Taking a vacation and exploring your destination through food and drink is a great way to learn an area's culture, character and to make some life long friends at the same time. If you're thinking about a culinary experience this summer, here are just a few U.S. cities who are hosting some of the most anticipated food and wine events in July, August, and September and beyond.

1. Tales of the Cocktail | New Orleans, LA
  • July 16 - 20, 2014
  • Nowhere in the U.S. has the same "cocktail culture" as New Orleans. This five day event in The Big Easy is a celebration of mixology and runs at the same time as Tales Restaurant Week, bringing together the spirits community, dining, events, and more.

2. Atlantic City Food & Wine Festival | Atlantic City, NJ
  • July 25 - 27, 2014
  • New Jersey's own Martha Stewart is hosting a Burger bash at Caesars Beach Tent, while renowned Chef Marcus Samuelsson leads a New England Clam Bake on Bally's Beach. Chef Robert Irvine will also be in attendance at the shoreline's Southern Blues Festival. Don't forget to take a walk down the boardwalk!

The sprawling festival has events in Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Hollywood, and Downtown, and a lineup including Anthony Giglio, Justin Chapple, Masaharu Morimoto, Graham Elliot.

  • The best way to spend Labor Day weekend is with three days of amazing wine and food in Sonoma County. Featuring over 200 of Sonoma's top winemakers and growers, plus fabulous chefs, your taste of Sonoma is sure to be savory!

7. GrapeFest | Grapevine, TX
  • September 11 - 14, 2014
  • The largest wine festival in the Southwest takes place in the "headquarters of the Texas Wine Industry", historic downtown Grapevine. GrapeFest boasts a GrapeStomp, Champagne Terrace, Culinary Pavilion, Golf & Tennis Classics, live entertainment, and more.

  • September 19 - 21, 2014
  • Newport, RI offers a grand weekend of tastings on the lawn of marble House, celebrity chefs, wine experts, seminars, gala celebrations, brunches and dinners, and the glamorous Newport After Dark party. An experience not to be missed!

  • September 19 - November 10, 2014
  • Epcot invites you to a food and wine lovers paradise. This cultural hub's culinary festival is complete with 30 World Showcase Marketplace tasting booths, 46 days of special events, concerts, marathons, celebrity chefs and of course, an unforgettable experience.

10. Greenwich Wine + Food Festival | Greenwich, CT
  • September 25 - 27, 2014
  • Greenwich is transformed into a culinary village with gourmet tastings, a BBQ pit, burger battles, concert stage, and celebrity chef demo tents, all on the menu. And Fairfield county is on the coast so boaters have great places to fish and explore the fantastic views of Long island Sound with the family.

You Deserve a Break This Weekend!



















Escape the hustle and bustle of car horns and deadlines with a spontaneous trip to your favorite beach, island, or home away from home. Check out these fun, savory spots to enjoy a little R&R with family and friends.



1. San Juan Islands, WA

An astounding 172 islands make this archipelago off of Washington's coast the most diverse boating destination in the Northwest. Terrain varies between islands, ranging from hills to sandy and rocky beaches alike. The islands take pride in their wildlife, and exclusive to San Juan Island is the opportunity to go Orca (killer whale) watching. Sailing, hiking, biking, and zip-lining are also popular endeavors.





2. Galveston Island, TX


Situated along the upper coast of Texas, this port city is bordered by the Gulf of Mexico and is made up of 30 miles of beaches. Galveston is a certified cultural hub with 14 museums, 20 art galleries, and some of the freshest seafood on the planet. Galveston is also home to Moody Gardens - an amusement park style entertainment complex complete with movies, live music, animals, and a rope course. 




3. Catalina Island, CA

This self-titled "island of romance" off the coast of L.A. is only 22 miles long, making it feel truly intimate. Zip-lining, snorkeling, parasailing, kayaking, hiking, and paddle boarding are just a few of the activities available to both couples and families. After hours, Catalina also has casinos and a variety of dining options.


4. Sea Island, GA

This island is one of four that makes up the Golden Isles of Georgia, and is most famous for its two world renowned resorts: the Cloister on Sea Island and The Lodge at Sea Island Golf Club. Both are Forbes 5-Star properties, and exceptional for golf enthusiasts (the Seaside Course is even home to the PGA Tour's McGladrey Classic).



5. Cabo San Lucas, Baja CA

Located at the Southern tip of Baja California Sur, Cabo San Lucas boasts "360 days of sunny weather" with a unique terrain consisting of deserts, mountains, and gorgeous beaches. Visitors enjoy sport fishing, water expeditions, golf, spas, wine tasting, shopping, and bars, making it the perfect blend of ecotourism and active nightlife.





6. Bahamas Out Islands, Bahamas

Comprised of 14 inhabited islands, the Out Islands of the Bahamas are perfect for those looking to enjoy the classic Caribbean experience. Each of these islands is a picture perfect scene complete with friendly locals, water sports, and fishing.







7. Florida's West Coast, SW FL

Captiva, Sanibel, Lovers Key, and Keewaydin Island are just a handful of the beautiful beaches and boating areas that line Florida's West coast. These tropical paradises feel more laid-back and residential than a traditional vacation spot, giving you the true taste of the island lifestyle.






8. Florida Keys, FL

Continuing down the Gulf of Mexico will lead you straight into the Florida Keys. These islands are notorious boating destinations and what mariners' dreams are made of.
