You Deserve a Break This Weekend!
Escape the hustle and bustle of car horns and deadlines with a spontaneous trip to your favorite beach, island, or home away from home. Check out these fun, savory spots to enjoy a little R&R with family and friends.
1. San Juan Islands, WA An astounding 172 islands make this archipelago off of Washington's coast the most diverse boating destination in the Northwest. Terrain varies between islands, ranging from hills to sandy and rocky beaches alike. The islands take pride in their wildlife, and exclusive to San Juan Island is the opportunity to go Orca (killer whale) watching. Sailing, hiking, biking, and zip-lining are also popular endeavors.
2. Galveston Island, TX Situated along the upper coast of Texas, this port city is bordered by the Gulf of Mexico and is made up of 30 miles of beaches. Galveston is a certified cultural hub with 14 museums, 20 art galleries, and some of the freshest seafood on the planet. Galveston is also home to Moody Gardens - an amusement park style entertainment complex complete with movies, live music, animals, and a rope course.
3. Catalina Island, CA This self-titled "island of romance" off the coast of L.A. is only 22 miles long, making it feel truly intimate. Zip-lining, snorkeling, parasailing, kayaking, hiking, and paddle boarding are just a few of the activities available to both couples and families. After hours, Catalina also has casinos and a variety of dining options.
4. Sea Island, GA This island is one of four that makes up the Golden Isles of Georgia, and is most famous for its two world renowned resorts: the Cloister on Sea Island and The Lodge at Sea Island Golf Club. Both are Forbes 5-Star properties, and exceptional for golf enthusiasts (the Seaside Course is even home to the PGA Tour's McGladrey Classic).
5. Cabo San Lucas, Baja CA Located at the Southern tip of Baja California Sur, Cabo San Lucas boasts "360 days of sunny weather" with a unique terrain consisting of deserts, mountains, and gorgeous beaches. Visitors enjoy sport fishing, water expeditions, golf, spas, wine tasting, shopping, and bars, making it the perfect blend of ecotourism and active nightlife.
6. Bahamas Out Islands, Bahamas Comprised of 14 inhabited islands, the Out Islands of the Bahamas are perfect for those looking to enjoy the classic Caribbean experience. Each of these islands is a picture perfect scene complete with friendly locals, water sports, and fishing.
7. Florida's West Coast, SW FL Captiva, Sanibel, Lovers Key, and Keewaydin Island are just a handful of the beautiful beaches and boating areas that line Florida's West coast. These tropical paradises feel more laid-back and residential than a traditional vacation spot, giving you the true taste of the island lifestyle.
8. Florida Keys, FL Continuing down the Gulf of Mexico will lead you straight into the Florida Keys. These islands are notorious boating destinations and what mariners' dreams are made of. Time slows in the Keys, where drinking is sport and fishing is an occupation. Each of the five islands has a different atmosphere, with Key West being the most lively final stop.
Marcali Yacht invites you to share your favorite weekend getaway destinations to be featured in future publications throughout the summer. We look forward to hearing from you!
